In this article I bemoan the increased blurring of the business of games development with the business of miniature manufacturing.

This article looks at the effects that dice rolling have on Warhammer Fantasy battles. Walking around a tournament you will hear countless stories of general's bemoaning their bad luck whilst others speak of their good fortune. How much effect do dice really have?

Horned Rat and Crows Feast added to Rankings... (Warhammer - Tournaments) Sunday, July 20, 2008 (39 reads)
Two tournaments have been added to the Irresistible Force Rankings database. The New Zealand "Horned Rat" and the South Australian "Crows Feast" events are the most recent additions. South Australia's favourite son and number one Ogre Kingdoms general Sean Davis' 2nd place at the event saw him rise 4 places in the rankings to sit him in 15th place and on the cusp of a Master's invitation.
All eyes now turn...

Ogre Kingdoms - 7th Edition Trial Rules... (Warhammer - General) Monday, July 14, 2008 (125 reads)
I have put together a list of proposed changes for the Ogre Kingdoms army list for us under the 7th Edition Warhammer Fantasy rules. These changes are a collection of thoughts and observation of several years of using Ogre Kingdoms both in tournaments and social games. It is not a re-write of the army book but a list of changes to units and general army rules that I believe will go a long way to making the Ogre Kingdoms a more competitive tournament army.
I encourage you to download the trial rules, play test them to your heart's content and send any feedback you may have to editor@irresistibleforce.net. Please note that this document is in no way endorsed or affiliated with Games Workshop officially and contains content that is the itellectual property of Games Workshop. However I get enough feedback and feel the rule suggestions are solid enough I will be submitting them to Games Workshop for their consideration, so you never know! Enjoy!
Document can be downloaded here.

The format for the 2008 Irresistible Force Masters has been released. There are a few changes being introduced this year as the Masters evolves and matures further cementing itself as the pinnacle of Warhammer Fantasy tournaments in Australasia. The Masters enters its 5th year in 2008 and has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2004. From humble beginnings it has grown into the highlight of the tournament calendar and something that hundreds of players across Australia and New Zealand aspire to qualifying for each year.
The sky is the limit for the Masters in my mind. It has a fantastic...

Australian Team to Compete at European Champs 2009 (Warhammer - Tournaments) Thursday, July 03, 2008 (164 reads)
The Australian Warhammer Fantasy tournament scene has never been in better shape, with a myriad of tournaments across a number of states providing ample opportunity for players to get some quality games in a fun atmosphere against a variety of opponents. The evolution of the Irresistible Force Warhammer Fantasy Rankings and the end of season Masters event has given the hobby focus providing a fun and accurate way for players to track their progress relative to their peers and also reward those players that have achieved some measure of success at tournaments.
The Masters enters its 5th year in 2008 and following the introduction of fully paid travel and accommodation for all players last year we have seen interest rise to astronomical levels and in the process help lift the hobby to a new level of professionalism. With things in such great shape at home the team at Irresistible Force has turned its attention to the horizon, the northern horizon to be precise and we are pleased to announce that plans are in motion to send an Australian team made up of the best players from across the land to Europe in 2009 to contest the European Team Championships (ETC).

ConVic added to Rankings... (Warhammer - Tournaments) Tuesday, July 01, 2008 (132 reads)
Australia biggest Warhammer Fantasy event, ConVic, was run on the weekend where a massive 94 players competed over 2 days for the prized title. Players travelled from all over Australia and New Zealand to attend the tournament to showcase some of the best Warhammer talent in the lands. ConVic also marked the long anticipated arrival of the new Chaos Daemon army and with many of the top players fielding them there was talk of Daemon domination as well as a perfect foil for the strong Vampire Count legions. History will show that the prophecy of Daemon domination came true with the top 2 places being won by Daemon players and 4 of the top ten being of the same ilk.
ConVic was a perfect demonstration of the strength of the Warhammer tournament scene in Australia and the Vagabonds club put on a great event for all to enjoy. The 2008 champion was Phil Cottrel of Victoria with the Wally Lewis of Warhammer and Queensland's favourite son Gavin Clarke coming in second, both fielding mixed Daemon lists. Third place was won by one of the best up and coming players from Victoria in Chris Cousens fielding his Tomb Kings so congratulations to all three player for...
